So awhile back I bought a bunch of cars online through an account that had NONE of my personal information. Not my name, not my phone number, hell not even my email. Yet about a few weeks after these cars were purchased, delivered, etc...I got a call from a Sirius XM sales rep in regards to nearly every vehicle I bought.
Word for word each rep who called me said “Hey I’m calling you about (whatever vehicle it was here) and your Sirius XM subscription”
How the fuck did they get my information if it’s NO WHERE in the entire transaction.

Liberty mutual thinks I have a 1 series. I know I used to, but I’ve seen it refer to a 2013 1 series, which is what my dad has.

Sirius XM is simply the worst company I have dealt with since the old days of getting cold calls on your landline, asking you to switch to another long distance company.
I have never had a positive experience with them, so I also wouldn’t be surprised they’re up to no good with their data mining tactics.
I consider any day a good day that I don’t have to speak with an XM rep. Thankfully that means I have about 363 good days a year.
Yes, I still subsc
ribe. Shut up!

It’s conceivable they were able to obtain/purchase public records from the DMV (or your state’s equivalent) . Same way buying a car can lead to a flurry of shady extended warranty offers.

Forget Sirius.....how did you buy all those cars without using your info? Even LLCs are easily figured out, with the exception of a three or four states.
I know many Sirius radios have telematics built in, so maybe they linked you via a location they got from GPS?

Hmm....I’ve had Sirius for 20+ years (whenever Howard switched over). While they certainly contact my credit card a lot, I’ve never had them call me once in all that time.
And yes, most car rec eivers have had telematics capabilities since 2012.

Glad you’ve had better luck. As we speak, they just put me on a plan I didn’t request (after a promo period ended earlier than expected) and now their site isn’t working, so I’ll have to call.
I will be on the phone for 30 minutes and have to decline upsales at least 4 times, without fail. Even when I had to call for tech support (3 calls over a week; 2 hours total) it ended up being a simple hardware issue on my end, but they couldn’t help me diagnose something that simple. And I got service pitches during THAT call.
My system was broken and they were trying to pitch me new subscriptions. Ay
.

Just read you didn’t sync. Where you in/near all of the cars? If you’ve previously had Sirius service with your current phone, they have your Bluetooth BD_ADDR....they could have referenced you that way.
Or they called the dealership and someone gave them your info!

The y probably have an agreement with the dealer network or something to pass along owner info when xm/sirius equipped cars change hands.

Edit. Just reread the op.
If your info is nowhere in the transaction but you u sed your computer or other device to do the deals, it appears to have snitched on you. Not only to the highest bidder, but to all of them.
Technology , ain’t it grand?

Only thing I can think of is they track registrations with DMV flagging factory optioned cars so they can sell you their service. I bought a car a few years ago that was factory equipped and they kept mailing me stuff wanting me to do a free trial, but I couldn’t get it to work and. The car’s gone now and I don’t get any mail from them.
